Kanyon's Birthday

March 26 is Kanyon and Jayde's Birthday. To say this day is "tricky" would be an understatement. Regardless of the outcome, this day brought us our daughter and son, so for that we "celebrate". I will never forget the first time I saw them. I had already loved them for a long time, but now I was meeting them and I loved them even more.

I'll, again, use "Kanyon's verse" today instead of my own words.

Psalm 20
May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.

May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.

Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.

Phillips Phamily Steps

Quinn is really holding out on the whole walking thing. This video was taken the first time he was actually going more than one step and then diving into our laps. After this night, he boycotted steps and is just now starting to take a few more.

When q walks and we cheer for him, klp is right there yelling "meee!!! meee!!!'" We are getting lots of ME stuff lately.... when he wants his turn doing things or when he wants us to let him do something WITHOUT our help.
Here is q man makin' his move.....

and here is Kanyon getting his turn!!! laughing the whole way!

Fun in Waco!

A few weeks ago, I went to Waco for Julie's baby shower. It was a fun shower and Me, Alison, Britney, and Hayley all stayed the night with Jules and had a blast!!!

Me and Julie (and baby Callie) at the shower

Alison, Julie, Me at the shower

Me with Brit the beautician....Hayley was there too I just don't have the pics to prove it! :)

The laughter was non stop all weekend as usual. These are my favorite girls to laugh with!!!

While we were doing crazy things like baby showers, dying hair, laughing, and looking through old college pictures, my boys were at home doing manly things...

like working with tools in the garage

being "athletic"....this is so Quinn. All he needs is a ball and he's happy.

Watching basketball in their Wranglers and boots. Speaking of....Kanyon is an official Phillips boy. The Phillips men are ranchers so you might expect them to wear Wranglers. They don't. They wear Levi's. Kanyon has his first pair of Levis so he's in the club now. Q still wears klp's old Wranglers...only they're kinda tight. We bought klp "slim" and I think Q is more of a "husky". He can hardly crawl in them they're so tight on his booty!! haha!

Kory sent me this picture while I was gone to Waco....I missed these little faces so much (and the mouths full of goldfish).

Now we are just waiting for Baby Callie to arrive. She is being pretty tricky...just when we think she's coming, she holds off another week!! :)

Curious George

This is one of Kanyon's favorite books right now. We've read it at least 65,000 times! I have to brag on my child a little (what's new). On one of the pages in the book, George sticks his finger in a little pool thing where little red crabs live and one of the crabs snaps his finger and George yells, "OUCH!" Ok, well the other night I was putting Kanyon's brace on his leg that he has to sleep in (you can kinda see it on his left leg in this picture) so he was sitting there looking at the book by himself. He was carefully looking at each page. Then I hear him say "OUCH!" and I look up and he's looking at the page where George gets bit by a crab!!!!! I was so impressed and proud! Last night as I was reading the book, he beat me to the "OUCH!" part.....I think its his favorite! I took this picture last night. I though klp would be excited about having the stuffed George with him, but after I took this picture, he didn't want him on the bed with us!! haha.

Sunday Afternoon Photo Shoot

Thought I'd try and get a pic of the boys today after church since they matched. It sounded like a good idea. We "propped" them up on the retaining wall in our backyard......

klp posed and ready...tough guy look

q doesn't want to be put down (imagine that)

klp legs turning to Jell-O and not wanting to be touched

q admiring the lovely grass

klp almost perfect

q doesn't want to stand up and SURE doesn't want to let go of Daddy's finger

We tried telling Q to hold klp's hand (so he would let go of KLP's)

klp totally pumped about holding hands (squealing!!!)

q likes the idea too, but this shot just doesn't come together

So we try sitting them down.

klp very happy. Hugging buba and saying "ahhhhh" like he does when he's doing something sweet.

q is pretty sure he's getting strangled and wants to get away and go play with a ball

KLP starts acting crazy jumping over my head and we get this....the best shot of the day. Its good enough.

That was that and we were on to the things they REALLY want to do outside.

Q with a ball...surprise surprise

crawling to the swing set very meticulously. He' not completely sure about the grass, etc. on his hands.

my handsome klp in his swing

Check out this cheesy grin!!!

Phone Pics REWIND

I got a new phone at Christmas and I'm just now syncing it to my computer for the first time. The next few posts will be random pictures off my camera.

They got pics off of my old phone when they gave me my new phone. All of these are those old pics. They make my heart heavy. Not in a bad way, just in a "my baby is growing up" way.

Remember this little guy??? This was October '08. He was 19 months old

the spike was wild and crazy

making him practice using his left arm getting Daddy's face

Feb. '09 almost 2. Had just had his first hair cut and was LOVING Ollie.

March '09..at a Dr's appointment. Almost 2 years old

Pics taken in Lake Tahoe when Kory and I went on a long weekend vacation and left Kanyon for the first time. April '09

October '09...I was pregnant with Q and we were in Dallas at eating camp for the second time. This picture was taken on the bed in our room in the hospital. We spent HOURS on that bed...I wasn't supposed to be up and around too much, so I got real creative with all the fun things we could do without me having to be on my feet.

more phone pics coming soon....

Cousin Look-a-likes

These pictures were taken at the Yamboree in October. Maurine and I have always noticed similarities between my 2 boys and her 2 oldest girls. They just sometimes seem like they're cut from the same mold.

Kanyon and Avery. They have the same giggle, taste in food, freckles, sandy blonde hair, and tendency to be a little..."emotional"

Quinn and Landry. I think their main similarities speak for themselves in this picture. They also share the ability to reach unheard of sound DECIBLES when they cry.....and they can both cry at the drop of a hat.

The funny thing is Quinn also reminds us a lot of his Phillips cousin Hayven. I'm not sure what he's gonna think about looking like all these girls, but its undeniable.

YEAH FOR COUSINS!!!

GIRLS!!!

I feel like one of the richest blessings in my life is my friends. I am so blessed by the friends I have from each different part of my life. The months of December and January were like DREAMS COME TRUE!! I got to spend time with 2 groups of my very very best friends. These particular groups of friends are both from ACU. One group is a year behind me in school, so that kind of makes me the grandma of the group I guess. The other is a group of gals my age from ACU. Here is a little recap of those great times.

Here is the "younger" group. The Wilson's hosted a FANTASTIC weekend of celebrating Kasey's upcoming wedding in San Antonio. We all flew in and were pampered and fed to our hearts' content! This was the first time in a very long time for us to all be together. To say it was good for my soul would be an understatement. Kasey managed to make us all feel so special and it HER wedding...we are supposed to make HER feel special!

Here we are at the classic "girl" lunch place. La Madaline

Kasey, Me, Kyla, Megan

Sharon, Erin (holding August...Sharon's daughter), Nina (holding baby Evelyn in her tummy), Chelsea, and Katie. I think we stayed at that restaurant for at least 2 hours!

In January, one of my favorite holidays of the year rolled around....MLK DAY!!! This has been the designated weekend that my girlfriends from college get together every year. We just meet up at someone's house and enjoy being together. I missed last year because I had a new baby and a late Christmas celebration with my family. So that made this year EVEN BETTER!!! We laughed, cried, talked, ate, talked, shopped, laughed, laughed, caught up, reminisced and laughed. We weren't all there and missed the girls that couldn't make it, but that is the great thing about having a designated weekend ....we always have next year! The love runs deep in this group. We've been through a lot and carried each other through some dark days and celebrated in some happy days!! Here is the crew that was there this year: Beth, Mary, Kayci, Christine, Kate, Kami, Mindi, and Me. This was right after a sweet older man paid for ALL OF OUR LUNCHES because he thought we were nice. WOW!!

2 weeks after a great MLK weekend was the actual weekend of Kasey's wedding!!! Here we are at rehearsal dinner.

Megan, Katie, Erin, Me, Chelsea, and Sharon

Chels, Katie, Kasey the bride, and Me before the wedding!

At the reception (which by the way was probably the prettiest most gorgeous and cool reception ever). Megan, me, Kyla, Chels, Sharon, Erin (Nina was too pregnant to travel so we missed her!)

We blew noise makers as they left...

My girl Sharon

Me and Kory. The husbands that came were troopers to put up with all our crazy antics all weekend.

Chels, me, Erin

I mean really. I felt totally guilty that I was gone from home so much those 2 months, but they were the BEST weekends I've had in a LONG TIME. The first time I was in SA I was only gone one night so Kory handled it alone. MLK weekend Kory's mom and Aunt and Uncle were here so i felt zero guilt. I knew Kory had lots of help and they had a blast. The weekend of the wedding my boys went to my parents' house, so that was fun for all. Rachel and Clint spent a lot of time out there too while my boys were there, so Rach sent me these pictures of their time while I was gone:

This pic is SOOOO Roselyn. She can't help but kiss the babies. She really can't help it.

Clint taking the kids on a Mule ride

Rachel and klp

klp and Nolan having fun at meal time....notice their spaghetti faces...nice.

.......speaking of spaghetti face!!!

Ro showing off her beautiful dress and beautiful smile!

This weekend really catapulted Kanyon's LOVE for Ro Ro!! he talked about her all the time. And since he's so obsessed with her, he wants to wear what she wears....even if its a gold sequin dress. So they put it on him....they made it into a tank top...you know like a basketball jersey...that's what they told me to to make me feel better about my son wearing a dress! haha!!

And that concludes the GIRLS WEEKENDS updates!!!!
