Phillips Phamily

For once I don't have a billion picture to post. Today is just words.  Most people that read this probably already know, but the week after Christmas we are moving to Montana.  Kory is going to be ranching with his brother Tye and their Dad.  This is a lifelong dream of Kory's and while we always knew it was a possibility, just within the last few months has it become a reality.  This decision was made with an unbelievable amount of prayer and we feel tremendous peace.  It has been anything but easy and the answers to "why" are anything but simple.  I don't know that I've ever felt this much mixed emotions. Our emotions about the move literally span the spectrum from one extreme to another.  We are leaving a wonderful town, an incredible church family, irreplaceable friends, and the joy of living so close to my family. These things (and the fact that I've kinda gotten used to having a Target in town) are among the hardest things about leaving.  We are so so sad.  Both of us.  It is heartbreaking.  But as I said before the emotions are mixed and we are also excited for what is next and looking forward to the things we know will be wonderful about being there. We have lots of family there that we are excited to be close to and the obvious excitement for Kory as he joins the 4 generations before him on their place. Things with Kanyon will be very different and we have a lot to figure out as we learn to navigate his needs in a new place.  I really think I could write for days about all of this, but I won't.  I'll keep things simple today, but I felt the need to warn all blog readers that in 2014 the people on the blog will be the same, but the scenery will change a little bit! I appreciate your prayers as we move and transition to a new place. We expect there to be great times and hard times, but if we have learned anything over the last 6 years, we've learned that GOD will always take care of us and provide exactly what we need.

Fall Fun

klp in OT.  Always working lots of different things at the same time

We enjoyed some perfect weather and spent as much time outside as possible.  This particular days was one of those magical ones where everyone is busy and happy and loving playing together.  They're not all that way, so I soaked it in.

Q aiming his gun (and showing his crack).

They were shooting their spinny guns having so much fun watching how far they would fly

In the mean time Miss Thang was busy "painting" the sidewalk with water and mud. And giving me a very serious look.

Somehow the boys ended up in boxes making maps.

klp found these, put them on, and said, "Take my picture".  With pleasure, Kan Man.

Big brother feeding baby sister some of his snack.

This was after church one Sunday when the weather was finally cool and I was just loving seeing the kids in their Fall clothes.

Its impossible really.  But we try, yell, clap, dance, scream, threaten, bribe, jump, and squeal until we snap enough and think "SURELY we got at least one good one." And by good I mean "good enough".

It was much easier just getting Jaylie to look.  Now if she would grow up and stand on her own, my legs wouldn't have to be in the pictures.

When I see pictures like this, I still can't believe I actually have a daughter.  I'm really, really glad I do.

You can always count on Daddy to feed you a treat.

Halloween

Kory and I really enjoy Halloween with our kids.  So far we've been able to convince them to be whatever we want them to be.  We just decide what we would get a kick out of and hype the kids up accordingly.  Pretty much every year we come up with the idea the day before and its usually Kory who comes up with the idea and then I'm left with the responsibility of throwing it together.  Its fun to put it all together.  It usually involves safety pins and hot glue.  This year was no different.

Kory came home from work and said, "I think I've got it! NERDS!" So then we told the boys. Of course they didn't know what a nerd was so we told them they were funny guys that wore crazy clothes.  They bought in and had fun.  Q was yelling "I'm a NERD, I'm NERDY!!!" all day. He just thought he was soooooo funny!

NERD ALLERT!

Their suspenders were ribbon hot glued on to suspender clips.  The glasses were dollar store reading glasses with the lenses popped out.  Scrap fabric for bow ties safety pinned on shirts with pocket protectors made out of construction paper.  Jaylie June's propeller hat was cut out card stock taped on to a straw taped on to a headband.   Details like pulled out pockets and unzipped pants compliments of Daddy. Slick parts (hair too short for alfalfa) and mismatched Halloween socks finishing off the nerdy duds.

See those sweet brothers with their arms around each other.......this was them 3 seconds later:
klp decided Q almost made him fall so he hit him...

Q mad/pouting and turning his back on Kanyon.

We made our first stop at the Sanders as we have each Halloween.  The kids love them and its a fun way to kick off our trick or treating.  Sharon spoils them with bags of treats including glow necklaces!

Here's Gary and Kanyon goofing off as usual. I think klp was hanging his glow bracelet on Gary's ear and Gary would shake it off and klp would DIE LAUGHING! Those two are always wild and crazy.

Q and Jaylie opted for the more calm company of Sharon.  haha!

Gary has been dealing with lung cancer over the last year and we are so thankful for successful surgery, chemo, and a clear PET scan! This Halloween visit was extra special after so many months of Gary not feeling good it was awesome to see everyone goofing off together again.

We left the Sanders and headed to some of our friends' neighborhood to hit up lots of houses and ride through the neighborhood on a trailer. We had a great time!

Q and Rock Star Allie trick or treating together.  They stopped and asked me to take this picture.  Ha!

Grayson was so sweet to Quinn.  He let Q follow him around and stayed with him the whole night.  Q felt pretty big getting to hang out with a big boy!

We had already dropped Holly off at her house, but here are some of the other Mamas!

We ended the night at my aunt and uncle's house. Another traditional stop for us!  We had fun looking through all our candy and taking a few more pictures. How perfect is this little nerd reading her book (she chose that prop herself) with a hand in the candy bowl.

I kinda couldn't stop taking pictures of her.  I think all the commotion of the night had her in shock so she forgot all about the glasses on her face! Perfect!

Nerd Quinn chowing down on Skittles.  He was one Happy Nerd!!!!

Happy Halloween!

October around the House

*Before you begin, I will tell you that you will notice that Quinn is wearing blue shark shorts in almost every picture.  Mom got them for the boys on vacation this summer.  Q is obsessed with them and lucky for him he has 2 pairs to choose from.  The second they are clean he puts them on.  We do own other shorts, you just probably won't see him wearing them. *

In between all of our travel adventures, we did all the normal things too....

Like grocery shopping!

He was pumped about Brookshire's new little carts.

Y'all, this happens ALL THE TIME.  He doesn't even seem to notice.  Strange, but funny.  At least to me.

Cowboy.  Pants-less cowboy

All 3 busy in the sandbox

She is particularly quiet and focused while playing in the sand.  I guess he takes it pretty serious.

Kory put her in the car with a pen in her hand.  I didn't know it until I went to get her out of the carseat and her thighs looked like this:

Brothers, backwards undies, and voluntary hand holding.

We heart the water table.

Q got the group pretty bad and all he did one day was sleep. He wanted to go outside with us so he sat in the swing like this for over 2 hours while the other two kids played.  Poor baby.

When he came inside, he just did this.

But perked up and was back to reading his magazines in no time.  I think its hilarious to see him sitting around pouring over a magazine (all the toy magazines are coming in the mail, so he's got lots to look through).
\

We have love-hate relationship with bath crayons.  They love them- I hate them.

Q decided his tummy was the perfect place for a bunch of Superman stickers.  Why not? He currently has a tatoo on his tummy too.

This is Jaylie June begging me to blow bubbles. She actually wants to blow them...Little Miss Big Stuff.

Aaaaaannnnd here's another common site around my house:

then she REALLY turns it on.

I told Q to go put some clothes on to go run errands....this is what I got.

Chillin' watching Q play in the rain...

It was a terrible day to run errands, but once I got them done, we came home, the rain slowed down to just the right amount for playing in the rain.

He insisted on the sunglasses.

Juney couldn't sit and watch for long, she ended up in the "river" at the end of the drive way.....
The END.
