Day 54

We are back settled in here in Longview. Yesterday was a LONG day for us. At 8:45 am they started telling us the transport team was ready to come get him. At 5:00 pm we finally left there! Everyone took great care of him on the way and he did great. Very thankful for that. He was happy to see his "home NICU" and happy to hear and see his nurses. Amanda was his nurse when he got there, and she has literally been with him from the moment he was born!

Kanyon was happy to be eating again, they had stopped his feets at 6am so he could transport...long day with just IV fluids. They took him off the vent this morning. So far he's done great with that. I think he was so ready for that. They kept him on the vent longer than he probably needed because they had to keep it for transport, so by last night he was wiggling and squirming to get that thing out! So...HOPEFULLY we can kiss the vent goodbye forever. We need those lungs to grow strong and healthy!

They are doing head scans today to check on that progress. We'll let you know how that goes. We do have some pictures from our time in Dallas, we'll get them posted as soon as we can. We thank you as usual for your prayers. We were reminded once again what a blessing it is to have people walking through this with us. We'll keep you posted!

Welcome home Phillips Phamily! So glad Mr. Kanyon is doing so well. I know he was as glad to be "home" in the NICU as his nurses were to have him back! I will be praying for strong, healthy lungs. Jaymie, your White Oak family is looking forward to seeing you and bring pictures.

I'm sorry it took so long to get 'home' to longview...but patience IS a virtue, right? We're so thankful for every step in the right direction and know there will be many more as you go forth!
I too hope the vent is a thing of the past and Kanyon's lungs are strengthening every day! Hugs and prayers,
Derald, Lesa and Haley

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." (Isaiah 40:28,29). Sweet Pea, I know you are tired, exhausted from the trip and the overwhelming stress of the last 54 days. Take heart, the Great Physician will not grow tired or weary. Rest in Him. For the rest of Isaiah 40, "Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall, but those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Rest, sweet ones, rest! Kanyon is in good hands! Thank you, Jesus!

The Paris Zant family was tickled to read the news. Waiting. . . is hard, but you've taught us well to be patient. I could just visualize Kanyon wiggling. It makes me smile that he was letting his wishes be known. I hope the family, all generations, may rest now that you are closer to home. When Kanyon gets home, your resting time will be limited.
We keep loving and praying.

Hey, I was looking at the pictures of the diapers!! They're so tiny!! When my step sister had her twins early, they compared the diapers to dollar bills!! Becca had one in her wallet for a long time!! I am keeping up with Kanyon's progress!! You're all in our prayers!! Keep the pictures coming!! I love to see them!!
