Here are the promised pictures from last night when Jaymie got to hold Kanyon for the second time. They weren't expecting to, but when they went to visit last night, the nurse asked if she wanted to hold him, and she just wrapped him up in a blanket and hat and handed him over.
Kanyon is up to 1 lb 14.7 oz. Jaymie said to be sure and note the .7 because that's a big deal in their world! He's closing in on the 2lb. mark! He was doing good today, just relaxing. He's up to 9cc per feeding and doing great with that. They think they'll take him off of his IV feeding within the next week. That will mean he's getting all he needs from Jaymie's milk. The digestive system is a big concern for preemies and his has been great so far. Continue to pray and thank God for that as well as for his little lungs. Just pray for all parts of his body inside and out to grow grow grow!!
They also took pictures with a basketball. That's how they are going to measure his growth - how big he is compared to the basketball. He'll be palming it before we know it!
And one of their friends from church that is a nurse there made him a blue bow and took some pictures for them. What a sweet little gift he is!

Jaymie,
Finally I can talk! I've been accessing your blog from work but the stupid buttons at the bottom of the page weren't there so I couldn't summit anything - and you know how the Gilberts love to talk! I'm so pleased to see the progress Kanyon has been making! The first thing I do every morning at work is to check how your 'phamily' is. A big thank you to Rachel for getting the blog up and keeping it going!
I was so happy for you when my mother told me you were pregnant (with twins none-the-less) - more blessings from God for the Spencer family. I knew you would be a wonderful mother. Very many congratulations on your bundles of joy.
I was devastated for you and Kory on the loss of Jayde. Very few people know that I had a miscarriage a couple years ago - I was five months pregnant when I miscarried, about the same age as your babies were when they were born (I believe). So it hit home what you must be going through. My heart goes out to you and Kory. But what a blessing it must have been to be able to spend time with her before she (as some of your comments here have said) became Kanyon's guardian angel.
I just wanted to let you know you have a prayer warrior in England, in fact our congregation prays for you as well. Be strong and courageous.
Love,
Karen

Hi there, This is Julie, Jodi Beaver's cousin. Just wanted you to know that there is a prayer chain here in Virginia and it's growing. We just moved here and we are visiting several churches and I have been passing on Kanyon's story at each church. So, who knows haw many people are praying here. I check you site everyday and we are praising the .7 in his 1 ob 14.7 oz!!

Shoot for two, Kanyon - pounds that is! What a blessing Kanyon is in his big blue bow. I hope for continued progress as this week after Easter unfolds. Soon he'll hit that 2 lb. mark for sure. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hooray for Kanyon!! I am so glad to hear the wonderful news. I will keep praying for all of you!
Love,

Kanyon is making such wonderful progress. I can really tell a difference in him from the other pictures.
He seems perfect in every way. I'm very glad you got to hold him again. I'm sure he loves being held by his mom and dad.
I pray for you many times a day because I know that prayer works.

This is Elaine from Tucson, Az. I have missed seeing the blog for the last few days and am so glad to see that Kanyon is doing so well. He'll be bouncing that basketball around before you know it. God is so good and I am so grateful to him for the good news about Kanyon. I am smiling right now thinking of it. Take good care of yourselves and remember how many are praying for you and loving you and that beautiful baby of yours. It feels as if he is ours as well. Love in Jesus, Elaine Folding

I love the basketball idea! He will soon be propped up beside it, then sitting on his own beside it, then standing beside it and then playing outside with it! You know we think about y'all every minute of the day! Hang in there!
We love you!
Wonderful news! I can't wait to see him with his own Air Jordan's-holding his very own basketball-or b-ball as Elijah says. They will have great fun playing b-ball one day! Love and hugs to you all!
