Texas Summer 2

We decided to celebrate Quinn's 1/2 birthday while we were in Texas with the Spencer cousins. I think Quinn has caught on to the fact that having a December birthday is great and all, but there's quite a dry spell of fun, gift ideas, and parties the other 11 months of the year.  So we did the Spencer 1/2 of his birthday while in Texas. It turned out really fun and I think we'll probably keep this idea going.  We had a swim "party" at Club Kerby so the December birthday boy was so happy to get to have a swimming party!

Here he is opening presents.  The 5 Girls gave him presents and one of them was his own toys that he left at their house when he spent the night there.  They wrapped them up and when he opened them everyone just DIED laughing.  Best joke ever as you can see!

Party People.  Of course Gavin was included with the cousins for the party! And of course Colbie is crying with her back turned to the camera refusing to be photographed....its her thing.

Besides his own lost and found items from their house, the 5 girls gave Q a pocket knife and a whittling book.  He has had so much fun with it. Here's the first stick that he whittled.

KiKi having some nice peaceful fishing time.

Mallory and klp cooling off with a little dip in the lake.

The first weekend we were home, my parents hosted the Camp Deer Run Staff weekend. That meant that 50+ college students filled my parents' house for the weekend! Me and my kiddos spent the night at Clint and Rachel's, but we spent lots of time at Mom and Dad's too. It was fun to get to visit with the staff and get to know them at the beginning of the summer.  Some I've known for years, but others I'm just getting to know.  Of course its a blast for my kids to be around them and have so many fun people to play with them!
This was one night at supper...YAY for good weather, then we can feed lots of people outside. My mom fed something like 85 people supper Friday and Saturday night.  AND she made it look so easy! #superwoman

We've known Drew his whole life.  His patens were on staff when we were little and the cycle has continued and been so much fun! Now he's hanging out with my little ones just like we used to hang out with him when we were on staff.  He spend the whole evening with Jaylie and she soaked it up!

He even left the table with his friends to come sit with Jaylie to eat.  It's something pretty special to watch other people be so good to your children.

While we were spending the night with Clint and Rachel, the party was really rockin'! These 2 were dressing up with unicorns and doing weird dances.

And getting a kitten's head stuck in the shopping cart.  This was real life.  The kitten stuck its head through and couldn't get it back out! Hahahah!

Rachel managed to eventually get it to come out miraculously without breaking the cat's head, the shopping card, or cracking a smile.

Beditme was cray as usual.  I can't remember what combination of kids was sleeping in the room, but they had quite the shin dig for a while after we "put them to bed". When I went to go to bed in the room this is how I found Jaylie June.  Off the bed and wearing several people's clothes.  She has on 2 pair of shorts/pants and 3 shirts on her legs.

That Monday morning it was our turn to go to CDR for Pee Wees!!!!
We did camp during the day and then drove to Longview to stay with Steve, Mary Lynn, and visit with our Longview people.  Its always a busy hectic week but the BEST EVER!

This is the ride home from Day 1

Quinn, Nolan, and Elliot. We grew up camping with Elliot's dad and my parents worked with Elliot's grandparents at CDR.  Generation upon generation of CDR friends!

We met up with some of our Longview people and I'm so mad I didn't think to take pictures until the end of the night.  A few kids had already gone home but here we are with the Rotzler/Venables crew.  Our kids roll in and its like no time ever passed.  Our kids thought they were cousins when we lived there and we like to keep them thinking that. It sure is good to have friends that are like family.  It was SO GOOD in every way to be back with these (and other) friends that night.  I could go on and on and on.

These 3 pals are TOO MUCH!!!!!!

Out little birthday (almost) twins!

Q caught a frog in Steve and Mary Lynn's yard.  We don't have a lot of frogs in Montana...at least not like in Texas where they're everywhere all the time.  I'm always glad to have these little experiences in our different "homes".

Blake and Kayli were home so we got to spend time with them and their dog Sammy of course! Blake was teaching Quinn how to do some tricks with Sammy.

The week the little kids did Pee Wee's Ro, Avery, and Landry were in their first week of their 2 week overnight session.  We tried to stay away and give them their space but sometimes we just couldn't pass up a quick hug when we'd run into them.

This as a true action shot when Landry and Quinn saw each other! Sweet little things.

Of course the kiddos took lots of baths in their favorite bathtub!  Steve and Boozie's!!!

Meanwhile, Colbie is working on potty training.  Way to go Colbz!!!!

We ended the CDR Pee Wee week and made a pretty quick turn around to more fun! Paw Paw and the kiddos stayed at home while me, Mom, and Aunt Nancye went to Oklahoma to go to the Pioneer Woman store! We had hoped Rachel and Mo were going to be able to come, but it didn't work out. Paw Paw and Juney girl giving us a nice send off dance!

We made it to our hotel late that night and then got up and out the next morning for a fun day at the Mercantile and at the Lodge tour.

Meanwhile Paw Paw takes the kiddos to DQ for some snacks.  He even remembered to pack Kanyon's animal crackers since he's not an ice cream kid.  Yay for Paw Paw!

Aunt Nancye started out the trip 100% clueless on the Pioneer Woman or anything about her. She's never one to turn down a good time so she came a long and we tried to give her the Pioneer Woman run down on the way.  At some point she realized one of her students in her class did a report on Ree so she did know a little bit.  While we were at the store the Pioneer Woman's husband showed up and Nancye was determined to get him to sign a book and get a picture.  We were just dying laughing because she started out clueless but by the time it was said and done she was their #1 fan!

We shopped at the store, then went on the tour of their lodge, then came back late in the afternoon to eat in the restaurant.  It was a "short" 45 minute wait but the sun was DIRECTLY ON US.  It was SO HOT! We did finally make it into the restaurant for a great meal.  The highlight for me was the queso. I hear its in her new cookbook and I will buy the cookbook to get that one recipe.  UNBELIEVABLE!

We made it back to Paris and all was well.  They had caught fish and put them in an aquarium so that they could torture....I mean watch them swim.

Boys enjoying the sprinkler!

And of course before she headed back to Dallas, there were......cookies from Aunt Cookie!!!! She's the best!

The week in Longview/Camp Deer Run is always a little hectic but it is SO GOOD.  And we topped the week off with a great little girls get away! What a week!!!!!
