Birthdays and Halloween

The weekend after the Yamboree we headed to Paris to celebrate Roselyn and Avery's 4th birthday!

We got in late Friday night and Dad had shot a deer with his bow and needed help tracking it.

KLP with his boys on a late morning Mule ride

Saturday was Roselyn's "Jessie" party. The kids wore their costumes (mine didn't...they weren't ready yet). Landry, Avery, Roselyn, Baylie, Kanyon getting ready for the puppet show. Rachel's mom has become famous for her puppet shows at the birthday parties. The kids are mesmerized.

klp and Nolan had a blast with the balloons

sweet kisses from Landry

q man sat with my dad in this chair for a long time. Its not like him to be so still and cuddly. Maybe it was the Ariel doll he was playing with....I mean eating. My SON doesn't play with DOLLS!!!

My camera messed up, but i loved this picture

klp must've gotten jealous.

qsp wearing the Flight suit we got for klp

Bath time!

Sunday all the grandsons wore matching shirts. We tried to get a picture....ummm yeah. Don't think we got any framers. Mostly just bloopers.

This was the best we got

nice Kan, niiiiiiiice.

This one is a little more appropriate.

Paw Paw and Gay Gay with the Phillips boys

Nolan wasn't in the mood

Sunday night, Halloween night, was Avery's party. My boys finally put on their costumes. Remember the basketball movie Hoosiers? Well, they were 2 of the boys from Hickory in that movie. It is Kory's favorite movie ever and he thought of the idea for their costumes. We were trying to think of something we already had. They both have black Chucks so that is what gave us the idea of the Hoosiers players. The shiny gold letters don't show up good in pics.

Here they are.....

Kanyon was Jimmy Chitwood (the stud player) and Quinn was Ollie (the scrub that sinks a free throw granny style to win a game....its also where we got the name for our dog)

notice Kanyon's fake smile

A cute little close-up of Jimmy Chitwood

After the cake and stuff, we all went trick or treating. "Ollie" just ate straw the whole time.

Grandkid attempt: Jimmy Chitwood, Woody, Ollie, Jessie, Templeton (the rat from Charlotte's Web), Charlotte the spider, and a tiny little Wilber.

It was a fun weekend! Next year will someone remind me to make sure my kids' costumes are FULLY CLOTHED???!!! SHEESH! 3 out of 4 years my costumes have not involved a lot of clothing. Good thing its usually pretty warm.

Yamboree Fun!

In the past month, I haven't blogged much, but we've been having all kinds of fun! Back in October was Gilmer, Texas' very famous YAMBOREE!! As usual, the entire Spencer family gathered for the big festival of fun, fair, parades, and yams.

My parents came in early to watch Kanyon ride at hippotherapy Friday morning. After that, we stopped for a little BBQ lunch......(pardon klp while he stuffs his face)

then we headed to the fair grounds to see the livestock show and look at all the animals and crafts.

q ended up crashing somewhere between the steers and goats

Clay and Mo's crew joined us too and we made the rounds inside the building

including the free popcorn the kids enjoyed feeding to each other

Then we went back to Nanny's to hang out with all the cousins. Here is qsp with cousin Nathan

Saturday morning was the parade. Our friend Ty brought bleachers for us to sit on. It was very fun, comfy, and showed just how serious we are about this Yamboree stuff. Here's our whole crew.

Again, q's first Yamboree was a little tiring.

However Kanyon's first corny dog did NOT disappoint!

Gay Gay with a few of her g-kids

After Saturday naps, Me and Kory and my brothers all took our kids back up the fair to ride some rides.

A rare occasion when our double stroller was JUST a double.

We stuck with the classic for Kanyon's first ride. Good ol' carousel. He enjoyed it very much!

Then Roselyn wanted to ride the "Bear Affair" so we rode that with her. Again, klp loved it.

And maybe the highlight of the evening was the motorcycles! Nolan is VERY in to motorcycles right now so he'd been looking forward to this ride. It was perfect for Kanyon and he was able to ride all by himself!!! They were LOVING IT!!! Shortly after, the light rain we'd been in the whole time turned nasty and a major huge storm blew in. We made it just in time!

More fun with cousins...here is klp with Jay

And my amazing grandma playing on the floor with Kanyon. He loved driving his tractor on her legs.

Rachel took these cute pics of qsp and KLP

Right before we left, we thought it would be a good idea to get a picture of Nanny with her great g-kids. Nolan thought it was a terrible idea. It didn't really turn out that great.

since we had such luck with Nanny, we went for Paw Paw and Gay Gay with the kids. Another unsuccessful, but funny pic!

Q's 11 month post....late.

Here's the info on the 11 month old MIGHTY QUINN!!!

4 teeth....2 front teeth are particularly huge.

eating lots of real food and less baby food.

nursing 3 times a day

prefers the army crawl, but I think he does it just to play tricks. Yesterday he went into Kanyon's room and I was watching him (he didn't know it) and I watched him crawl all the way across the room on all 4's!! Haha!!

Pulling up on EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. I've had to child proof things at a new level. I've been child proofed for a while with klp, but now that q pulls up standing, that's higher than klp, so he can reach more things!!!!

was FINALLY sleeping til about 8am until daylight savings time. Bummer. We're still working our way to later mornings. BUT he wakes up and audibly sucks his thumb....very VERY audibly. But he continues to be a happy waker uper!!

Loves LOVES the magazine basket

hates to be told No, but he's figuring it out

Takes 2 naps and I nurse him and put him down about 8:30. This "new" schedule means that he and big bro are never asleep at the same time. My housework/blogging/cooking prep/feeding myself/bible reading/making phone calls with out tons of background noise/showering has taken quite a hit, but oh well. The synchronized naps were good while they lasted.

As you'll see in the next pic, when we lay him down in the bed, he immediately raises his legs up. That makes him impossible to effectively cover up. We cover him up with his legs raised and when he eventually puts his legs down, there goes his covers!! Good thing he has chunky legs to keep him warm.

The wrinkled nose smile is sooooooo him:

I'd be lost without him.

All is well!!!

I've been trying to figure out a few things on my computer that have kept me from blogging. I am still figuring them out, but I think I can at least post now. With my lack of blogging, I've had several people ask "is everything OK???" Yes! We're all fine and i have lots and lots to catch up on!

In the mean time, we're just.......

enjoying blueberries

and looking forward to Thanksgiving!!

More to come........sometime.
