Up goes the old....out comes the new!
Well, I'll start off by saying...now I know why my mom has tons of boxes of our old baby clothes still up in our closets! It is too hard to let go!! But, thanks to eating camp and Kanyon's new found "tolerance" (notice I didn't say love...not yet) of eating, after 10 months, we can finally pack away our 3-6 month onesies!
Here are some of the favs from that set...
OK, so I couldn't pack them all away. I can still snap these and they are my favs!
Here he is in October with one on....

September in another one...
December in another....
Ok...enough of that. We said our goodbyes this morning and they're going in a box.
So much for "soothing" with this Rain forest Soother. He loves it so much that he wants to eat it. This is how I found him yesterday.
Llon, Lori, and Landon came over last night to play. We had a great time visiting and Landon is such a sweet boy! Kan and Landon will have tons of fun when THEY MOVE HERE!!!! Well, we're hoping they will in a couple of years.
The big event of today was a trip to Addison's house to swim! So we packed away our old clothes in the morning, and busted out our new swim trunks this afternoon! It was K's first time since he had that stinky tube for so long. Here are the two beach babes getting all sun screened up!
OH YEAH! He loves the cool surfer dude look!
Ready for some fun in the sun.
Maybe I should've put sunscreen on his belly.
I think he tolerated the shades because he knew it would complete his totally cool surfer look.
I am an idiot and lost the hat that matches his swim trunks. But, thanks to Aunt Sydni we still had a great sun hat! By the way, Kanyon liked the pool fine, he just ate the float thing and splashed occasionally.

We used to call Mindi's pool "The Spa"...before we had kids....its not so much the long relaxing spa trip anymore, but we love our little tadpoles swimming around!
On to some events of the last few days:
No, he's not angry. He was actually very happy to be going on a walk since its not 600 degrees. I have always wished my eyeballs had built in camera lenses so I could just blink and it would take a picture. I can't always seem to capture the moments on a camera and then there are times when I don't have my camera with me (and I always have my eyeballs...see what I mean!). We were walking down the street and Kory had Ollie on the leash and I was pushing Kanyon. K kept leaning over and I couldn't figure out what he wanted. Then I rolled him closer to Ollie and he just rubbed and patted Ollie while we walked. It was SOOOOOOOO cute!

Kanyon's Buddies and Praise Baby
One of Kanyon's best buddies is his Great Aunt Mary Lynn...he LOVES playing with her. We were over there the other night and she was bouncing him on her lap. If she would stop, he would bounce himself so that she would start again. He was having a blast!

Since K's eye surgery, he can finally see, so we thought we'd see if he could watch his Praise Baby DVD. I knew it would be tricky because our TV is not that big and is far from the floor (not to mention it is from the stone age, but I don't think Kanyon cares!). Here is how it happened:
"Hey Mom, where are you going? Are you just going to leave me here?"
"Oh SWEET! What is that up there?!"

"Oh boy..a movie AND toys!"
"Speaking of movie.....yeah, its still playing"
"Why do you keep turning the camera on, it is interrupting me!"
"Now, where was that TV...I can't find it.."
"Hey Mom! This is cool!! Sorry you can't get a picture of me watching it....I thought I was supposed to look at the camera when you got it out!"

Gary and Sharon are also some of Kan's best buddies. Sharon and some other ladies at church have volunteered to keep Kanyon in his own nursery so that Kory and I can go to class and church! They know that we can't do the nursery thing yet, so they found an empty room and have made it perfect just for Kanyon! Yesterday was our first time and it was wonderful. I didn't really think that it was that big of a deal taking him with us, but it was sure nice to be able to sit and listen! Thanks so much to our very own Church Ladies! Here he is with Mrs. Sharon before I left. He looks sad, but really he was totally pumped! He was just sleepy!
Amy and I found these shirts shopping Saturday and thought our boys needed them. Here are Blake and Kanyon matching on Sunday! As usual, K thinks Blake his hilarious!

Sunday night at small group, Addison came over to chat with K. I think he's raising his hand to ask a question here. They had fun talking to each other. They were so cute! They would chatter and giggle!

Cooper popped in for a quick hello!
And then the girls raided K's stroller and put him in this little get-up.

Somehow I didn't get the picture on here that shows him ripping it all off. I thought that would be a little redeeming for him later in life. But I refuse to mess up the whole post trying to add that picture.
We made another trip to Dallas last week for a few appointments:
1. Our Children's House-we are OFFICIALLY NG Tube GRADUATES!!!!!!!!!!! They were very pleased with his weight gain and said KEEP IT UP!!!
2. GI-Also happy with weight gain. He didn't change anything because he said he doesn't like to "mess with magic" and what we're doing seems to be working. We'll go back in 2-3 months. He also pointed out that Kanyon is getting closer to being on the chart for his adjusted age.
3. Preemie Clinic-We LOVE this Dr. he is so nice. The visit was good. They did another developmental check up. Roughly K is about 6 months developmentally. Give or take, the test is not totally perfect and doesn't show everything completely and accurately, but it is a ballpark figure for us to know. They felt like he was really on the brink of some big moves, so next time we'll hopefully jump up more. Obviously this is slow progress. He's had a tough year where a lot of things were happening. BUT...now that we're through all surgeries (Lord willing) and his eyes are working better, and he's actually eating more that 16 ounces a day we expect things to happen a little faster. They seem to already be moving faster. I forget how much all of those things that he's been through take out of him and then the whole fact that he was eating MAYBE what a newborn baby would eat how could we expect him to be able to do anything! We're hopeful that this 2nd year will be faster than the first. We will go back in March when he's 2! (that sounds crazy!)

Wedding Weekend!
Before we get to the wedding, I have to show you Kanyon's latest addition to his basketball attire. I found these Jordan shorts and ended up getting them for $3!!! I have already had to promise my brothers that they can borrow them. I didn't put Kanyon in the shoes for the picture, but he was very excited about his new shorts!
Already working on the tongue thing!
We began our busy weekend Wednesday night. We headed to Dallas for an early morning appointment on Thursday. We stayed with Paul and Katie and Katie was my LIFE SAVER Thursday. She got up early with us and went with me to the Dr. We had to be there at 7:15 for an MRI and then met with our Neurosurgeon afterwards to look at it. I could have NEVER done it without Katie! Here they are in the waiting room playing while I did paperwork! We got an EXCELLENT report from the Dr. They were mainly checking the size of his ventricles (those are the things that had too much fluid causing the hydrocephalus and the shunt now drains them). They wanted to make sure the shunt was working and it is perfect. He said they are perfectly small! The best news is we don't have to go back for another year!! Usually we are there at least every 3-4 months!! YIPEE!!! This is always a scary appointment because it is the one thing I'm the most in the dark on....I am always afraid he's going to come back in and say something is wrong and we're headed to the OR!! Thankfully we had a great check up!
OK...from there we went to Paris for Julie's wedding. This was also a big weekend for Kanyon because he wore shoes. He's never really worn shoes before. He wore the cutest green shoes that his aunt Sydni sent and they were SOOOOOOOOOO CUTE! I didn't get a very good picture, but you can kind of see them in this picture. Great Aunt Gwennie, Ali, and Brittney played with Kanyon while I ate at rehearsal dinner!
Something tells me these 3 boys were up to something.....
Me and Ali with the lovely bride Jules!
Here is Kanyon with one of his newest best friends Jude. Jude is only 2 weeks old and he is SOOOOOOOOOOO tiny and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute. Here are Scott and I with our little ones. Crazy that we're parents. Jude is a blessed little boy, he has 2 wonderful parents!
Phillips Pham. You'll notice Kanyon's shoes here....Chucks. I decided a long time ago that Kanyon would wear the classic Converse shoes his whole life (or at least as long as I have say-so), I just didn't know how small they made them. Well, here they are in a size 3. Still a little big, but oh man, I love them. He liked them because he just ate the shoestrings. Everyone wins.
