Day 80

YIKES! Where has this week gone?! I guess that is a good thing. We have had a very good week here. Kanyon has been busy growing and eating and I have been busy getting his room done. We started on their room before they were born thinking we were ahead of the game and would be done in plenty of time for the babies' arrival in June. Well, we've been on hold the last 3 months, but it is time to start getting it going. My UNBELIEVABLE sister in laws (and their adorable daughters) and my UNBELIEVABLE mom have been here this week working so hard helping me get things done. I once again find myself wondering what I would do without these girls (and thanking my brothers for marrying Rachel and Maurine!).

Kanyon's latest milestone is that he hit 5 lbs today!!! WOW! 5lbs 1.2 oz to be exact! YIPEE! He's taking his bottles better so they've started giving him a bottle 4 times a day instead of just 2. They are doing another head scan tomorrow to check on his head. As of Wednesday, he still had the bladder infection, but hopefully its gone by now. We are ready to figure out what is causing these things! Other than that, things are going well.

Probably the most fun thing this week has been Kanyon's VISITORS!!! Now that he is in IMC you can see him through the window. The windows aren't open very often and they won't open them unless there are parents in there, and even then you can barely see him. But, that is better than nothing! Some of his biggest fans got to see him this week. So, enjoy these pictures.

Aunt Rachel and Cousin Roselyn's first time to see Kanyon!!! Uncle Clint hasn't seen him since he was a 1 pounder, so this was WAY FUN! Kanyon even waved at them from his bed!

Church buddies The Porters, Thomas, and Corbitts. This group included Kanyon's future BFF Blake who was born only a few days after him.
Cousin Avery meets Kanyon!! Aunt Mo hasn't seen Kanyon in a while either, Kanyon made lots of funny new faces to show off for Mo and Avery!
Family reunion! Great Aunt Mary Lynn and Great Uncle Steve, Cousins Jay and Paul and CDR friend Kaylee came to say hi! Cousin Paul even got the government to be extra slow on his passport back home to Korea so he could see Kanyon! :)

Here they are looking in on him.

I think this pictures is hilarious! He's wearing PANTS!! They were huge, but it was so funny. He's such a grown up.

Keep praying! See what your prayers have done??!!!

Oh, Jaymie, blessings abound. I weep with joy for your family as we have watched Kanyon grow and pass so many milestones. On Monday, little Sam will enter this world. I believe that he and Kanyon, though they've had different journeys, will be bonded forever as God's littlest warriors!
Praying still...

What a sweet time! I know that it probably wasn't easy chaning up the rooms but I know that you know we are praying for you and all those little details that sometime may take your breath away. I am proud of little Kanyon and I can't wait to see him! I can't wait until he is able to go home to his own bed, that will be a surreal day won't it. But what a joyous occasion. We continue to pray, we love you dearly!

Oh my!! I remember when I brought home my 32 weeks and he was exactly 5lbs. On our first trip to Target a lady commented on how small he was and I just smiled. I wanted to tell her how BIG he was. Be prepared for people to ask how old his is, see how small his is, and then ask a TON of questions. On the days I didn't want to explain, I just gave his "adjusted" age. Too many questions and I didn't want people breathing on him while I explained! Praise GOD for 4 bottles and room air!!

i am sooooo happy for you and Kanyon....this is so encouraging, especially now. my sister is involved with a micro preemie... her parents did not want her before she was a micro and they still do not... she is in the NICU in Amarillo, and I got to go see her yesterday. I met with the doctor and Stormi, so they let me back. I could just picture Kanyon and how far he has come. Morgan ( the baby) was born somewhere around 24-25 weeks and weighed 1 lb 11oz and was 12 inches long. She had her eyes already opened, and is doing quite well... she did have to have the surgery on her heart for a heart murmur, b/c it did not fix itself....and her first head scan was not good at all... a 3 on one side and a 4 on the other.... the doctor said that the brain is still in development and research shows that some of the time new cells will "fill in" for these damaged cells... and he said that until a baby is about 8 yrs of age, they are making new lung cells if they are damaged... God is amazing....I believe that Kanyon is doing so well because of God and the power of prayer, and support from his family. I hate to be a bother, but if you think of it mention Morgan in your prayers.... she does not have anyone other than my sister to love her and Stormi does not have anywhere near the support you all do.... praise God tonite for all those who love you! Anyway, Morgan's main concern is for her brain to heal, and produce new cells, and to continue making those tiny little milestones.... I cannot imagine such a little baby with no one to love her.....but she does have love and the doctor also told us that these micro preemies do really well in homes that are stable, and devoted to helping them.... I know Kanyon has such a home and I thank you for shaing your journey with me and others, b/c it has helped me while dealing with Stormi and Morgan... she is 20 days old today.... we have a long way to go, but look at what we have to lookf fw to...
love you guys, lf
