Day 50

50 days!!!!!! WOW! I can't believe it. In some ways it seems like it has been 50 years, but in some ways it feels like time has flown. We are thankful for 50 days of life for Kanyon. We are thankful for 50 days of experiencing GOD taking care of us in a way we never could have possibly imagined. I know without a doubt that we have felt that peace and comfort because of the prayers all of you have prayed for us. We are so thankful to GOD and to all of you.

Kanyon is doing well today. Kory is back at work and so its me and my mom here. We checked on him this morning and he was sleeping. I tried to coax him into opening his eyes, but it was just too much work. He is started back on feeds after this last surgery and he is taking his last doses of antibiotics today. He had nice greenish poop! In case you're wondering that's a good thing! It means his tummy is working. His physical therapist came in (yes..that's right, a physical therapist for a preemie...who knew?!) this morning to work with his little foot. It is a little bent from either sharing a belly with his sister or from laying on it funny after he was born. Anyways, they just massage it and try to get those toes wiggling! Kinda funny.

The only other news we really have is that we are going to be here an extra day or two...that seems to be a pattern! The thing they put in his head is a little different than what they first thought they would do (no better or worse, just a different thing) so they have to watch it for 3-4 days instead of just 1-2 days. SOOOOO we should be back in Longview by Friday at the latest! We are ready to be home, but want to make sure he's good and ready to go before we leave.

Thanks again for hanging in there with us!

We are so excited you are coming home this week. It only gets you closer to taking Kanyon home to his loving family. I know he will get stronger. The girls are always praying for Kanyon's little body. Can't wait to see you!!

i'm at work and i did not authorize my wife to use the internet at home today... i'll have a talk with her about such usurpish and wild behavior. so, i'll just echo what she said. we're so excited for you.
on another note, mitch long (from the jr. huddle) broke his leg in a motocross accident, and michael, shelby, and i went to see him today. shelby ended the visit with the prayer. it was a good prayer... and he was about to say amen... and then said: "and God, please be with kanyon and kory and jayme to day and help kanyon continue to grow strong and healthy"... then his prayer was finished.
last week, during communion, dillon metcalf was leading the prayer for the bread, and thew kanyon in the prayer. no seguey (sp?), no long drawn out anything. just "and be with kanyon and he grows." i almost laughed, but i didn't. it was so "out of place"... but not really. because that's what your family is thinking of when we go to our King's thrown, our Dad's lap, and our Shepherd's arms. "God, pull them threw!"
just wanted to let you know how much you are loved... even by people you don't see or hear from everyday... dillon and shelby... who knew? (as you say, jayme).
don't worry, i'll have that talk with cindy about the computer.
it's unreal that when we pray, we don't feel like we've prayed for everything unless we pray for you guys.
by the way, we're taking our three kids with us to mexico this year... ya'll want to come and bring kanyon along? maybe he can get a "tanahumaran" girlfriend?
your sane friend -

Great news!!! Praise God!! Kanyon is such a little fighter and has so much of his mom's spirit. I have not had a chance to meet Kory, but I'll bet he has a little of you in him too. Just thought I'd let you know I try to keep your class updated on what is going on and they will be thrilled to know the surgeries are over and Kanyon has green poop. (They will probably like the green poop most) Kidding, they think about you often and ask what is going on everyday. They love you and your family and hope to see you soon.
I pray for continued strength for all of you, I know how tough it gets day in and day out at the hospital. You will have him home soon.

It's so wonderful to hear such uplifting news. I pray that everyday he continues to do better and better. I'm sure you can't wait to have him in your own home. Before you know it, he will get to wake you up in the middle of the night in his own little crib. We will continue to keep his health in our prayers, and for you and Kory for strength. You guys sound like you are taking everything extremely well.
