Kanyon's First Day of School

We finally got a new computer so I can actually function without waiting 20 min. for every single move of my mouse to happen. Hopefully I can get caught up with blogging. I feel like the most "in demand" post would be the first day of school, so here it is.

It was fine. We all survived! Thankfully, Kory stayed home from work to help until we picked Kanyon up, so that was wonderful! We took a few pictures before we left the house:

Here is klp heading out ready to conquer the new world ahead!!!

Gazing out into the sunrise contemplating his future

A picture with his mommy (don't judge the morningness)
oh great, now my words are underlined and I have no idea how to stop that. BAD new computer!! I won't let it slow me down though.

Here is his teacher Ms. Paulette. We started meetings with her and the rest of the "team" of therapists, principals, etc. back in October so we feel like we know her already.

Pic with parents...he wasn't sad, he was just being shy for the camera. qsp was there, but he was in his carrier on the floor. Check it out, the underlining stopped. I didn't even do anything!
He never cried, we sat him down on the ground and he took off to go play. That is what we expected. He's never minded leaving us. I'm so glad because walking out of there with him crying would've been pretty hard. I'm sure you want to ask...did I cry? No. But, that's kinda how I roll. I just don't think about what I'm really doing so as to avoid emotion. Its not my best quality. Plus I had to go to the front office to give some things to them and I didn't want to be all teary eyed while I was in there. Kory stayed with me so that he could be there to pick him up and help me get settled back at home and I'm so glad. When we picked him up and put him in the car, he started SCREAMING! The teacher said he did good, but was for sure getting tired. By the sounds of his screaming, I'd say so!!! He was just absolutely wiped out! We had planned on taking a pic out in front of the school sign, but that wasn't going to happen. The worst news was that I had to take him in and try to feed him!! UGGHH!! But we got him calmed down (Kory played with him outside while I got everything ready) and he ate OK and was asleep within 25 seconds of sitting in my lap to drink his milk. He slept for 3 hours!

All I could think about was "How will I do this when Kory isn't here" but the next day he was much better. Each day he was more than ready for his nap, but he could at least function! The thing I hate most about it is that i have to wake qsp up to put him in the car. UGHH!! I mean seriously, it takes 10 min. round trip I just hate waking him up and messing up his nap. Oh well.

Kanyon has done great with the earlier bed time and really has been Ok in the mornings. We get him up early enough that he has time to play a little before he has to eat (torture) and so we're not running around like crazy all stressed out. Hopefully I can keep this up. As for me and q and our 2 hours while he's gone. Well, hopefully qsp finishes his morning nap and lets me do some things around the house, then he eats and its about time to go pick klp up! It goes quick!

I would give anything to be able to watch klp in action. I know he's loving it! A new thing that is good is that now I have a reason to look forward to Mondays. We don't have school! I let him sleep til 8 when there is no school. :) We're on the whole "school night" "not school night" thing now and it makes the "not school nights" more fun (even though we try to put him to bed at the same time).

So tomorrow we will begin week 2 of this school thing. We are hoping all continues to go well.

So glad for you that klp likes his school. We have the same thing here in TN. Austin goes in the AM for speech therapy. He LOVES it! And I love his teachers, therapists and staff. I was nervous about him riding the bus though. Austin rides the bus to his regular daycare in the afternoon. Our school system has special buses that are equipped with car seats. Its his fave part of the day!
klp with start to amaze you with what he learns at school, while having fun doing it!

Ahhhh! I'm all teared up and ready to blubber, guess I'm doing it 'for' you. I just can't believe it's time for him to go to school! He is so handsome, and appears to be so ready for this new activity! The schedule seems to be a pain. I think the first child's sched. is always painful in some way or another. I'm excited for yall and am like you. I wish I could see him in action at school. God bless yall in this new step. Golly, I'm really so excited for yall!

Way to go Kanyon!!! You are such a big boy rock-star! School wipes our wild man out as well...but aren't those long naps just fabulous for everyone :)? We really must try and meet up somehow this summer... I will start trying to figure out a way to head west!

First of all, man oh man does that little qsp Easter bunny look PRECIOUS?!?!?! Can I please squeeze him??

WAY TO GO, KANYON!!! And way to go Mommy, too!!! Adjusting to new "normals" is ROUGH. Nice job. :) The absolute worst thing ever is having to wake up sleeping babies for a 10 min trip. We still have to do it every week, and it hurts me! But such is life of the second child!! :) Glad you all are doing so great..... I just can't BE-LIEVE he is going to school!??!?! Sigh....

That's what I'm talkin' about! Couldn't wait for you to get around to this post so I could see how everyone did the first week of school. Once again, you prove to be super woman.
Love you all!!!!

I LOVE the picture of Kanyon sitting on the front porch with his backpack on! He looks so smart and grown up. :) I hope things continue to smooth out for you as you adjust to this whole new school routine. I'm sorry you have to wake up Quinn to go pick up Kanyon. Aren't you just so tempted to just lock up the house and leave him there? I've been there....
