Special prayers needed tomorrow

Kanyon has had another good day - they upped his feedings to 7cc and he is tolerating that well. A full feeding is 15cc, so he's nearly half-way there! Tomorrow they are going to take him off the ventilator to see if he can breathe on his own. They will put a CPAP in his nose, which pushes a continuous flow of air through his lungs to make sure all the little airways stay open, but it does not actually inititate breathing for him. He will be breathing pretty much on his own. His doctor says that it may tire him out and they may have to put him back on the ventilator after a few hours, but they'll just have to wait and see how he does. The doctors and nurses keep stressing that it is a big day for Kanyon, and it's making Jaymie nervous. So pray that Kanyon has the strength and energy to breathe on his own, and pray for peace for Jaymie and Kory so they won't be so worried.

Good to hear he's a big eater! I'll pray for his lungs to be strong ... and get stronger every day. Jaymie and Kory, it's ok to worry, but remember that there are many people helping you bear your load. Love you guys,

Kanyon has proved to be a little trooper and I am sure he will come through this transition smoothly. We know that God is holding his hand and will help him though. Jaymie and Kory, I will continue to pray for peace for both of you. You two have also proven to be troopers. You have dealt with so much in such a short period of time. Just remember God is strength and continue to lean on Him. I will be praying for all three of you tomorrow.

Do not get discouraged if he only stays off of the ventilator for a few hours and has to go back on. This is a major step for a micro-preemie.

He is doing great by any measure and I am so glad you have already gotten to hold him. I know this is one roller coaster you wish you were not riding but he will be home before you know it.

Hang in there and keep your faith. I think about your family often and I know how you are feeling because I was in your same shoes 2 1/2 years ago. Things are even more advanced now than they were then.

Sincerely,
Angie Fox (TN)
Mother of a micro-preemie that looks and acts like any other
