He's eating, pooping, and breathing well!

Sweet little Kanyon is doing good today. I just got off the phone with Jaymie and she had some updates. He is up to 4cc of milk per feeding, and he also pooped, both of which show that his little digestive system is working well. They are also trying to decrease the amount of pressure that his ventilator is providing. I don't understand exactly how it all works or how they measure it, but I know he is on regular air, not oxygen, which is great, but they are still having to use a ventilator to help his lungs work. It has been set on 20, which measures the amount of pressure it is pumping into his lungs, and they tried decreasing that pressure yesterday and today. I know yesterday he didn't seem to respond very well, so they had to turn it back up. Today they turned it down to 15 for a while, then had to bump it up to 16. They say it will probably have to go down and back up for a while as his lungs get stronger. I don't know how much detail I really need to give on that, but the goal is obviously to get him off the ventilator eventually, and it helps to measure the progress when they are able to use it less and less. I hope I'm getting all the details right on that. He is going to have a routine head scan today, so we can pray that it shows no problems.
-
Jaymie is healing well - she got her staples out today, or her zipper, as her brother Clint likes to call it. She and Kory slept at home last night for the first time, which is a good sign that they felt comfortable enough to leave him for that long.
-
Jaymie asked for continued prayers for his digestive system, the head scan, and for them to have peace about everything.

Jaymie and Kory,
You are in my thoughts so much. I continue to pray for Kanyon's continuing progress and for you. This site has been such a blessing to me to see how God's people respond when there is a need in the body of Christ.
Thank you, Rachel, for keeping us updated.

I am Laurie Wright, a Floyd family friend since Susan was about 6 years old. I've met Kory only a couple of times and he probably doesn't remember me but I feel I know him. Geneva sent me the news and I've been holding all of you in my prayers. I visited the blog and the early pictures touched my heart. I know of two instances of babies born at similar stages who are thriving. One is a poised and beautiful college student on full scholarship and the other a bright-eyed bouncy four-year-old who has also over come the effects of stroke suffered at a very young age. My prayer is that our heavenly Father will let us add Kanyon to this list.

I am a recent online blog acquaintance of Susan's. Another friend told me about your precious family and asked for prayer. I was so moved by your story and I am honored to lift up your family to God's throne of grace. I pray a speedy recovery for both Jaymie and Kanyon.

Jayme, Kory, & Kanyon,
I just finished my turn in the prayer chain. I feel selfish because praying for your family in that dedicated way was so cleansing to me. I just wanted to share the verse that kept running through my mind the whole time. (Maybe because the Casting Crowns song is one of my favorite, but I prefer divine inspiration) Psalm 121:1-2 I look up to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord. He is maker of heaven and earth.
I found such comfort in those words and in remembering that OUR God is the same God of Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Moses and David. He will see you through this time.
May His face continue to shine on you and His comfort bring you peace.

In Him,
Julie Truex

Yea for all the good news! God is SO good and FAITHFUL!

My sweet husband wants to know what age is it that you quit getting congratulated for pooping!? :) Tell Kanyon that at some point, the "congrats" will come to an end, so live it up! :) But for now, give him a high five from us! Love y'all!!

Get to participate in the prayer chain tonight... anyone out there want to take the 3 a.m. spot... it's the last one left...
Kory and Jayme... may God's healing hand be upon your lives and may your relationship with God and Christian friendships help you through this time in your life. May God show his power in Kanyon and in your healing!
God is able!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rachel - You are doing a g-r-e-a-t job with the updates, and I enjoy getting as many details as you want to give.

Jaymie - I know and trust completely that God's timing is just right and that he in all things works for our good (Rom 8:28), but my heart hurts so much for you and Kory. It hard for me to comprehend how painful this past week has been for you. Know that you are daily in our prayers. I thank God that you got to meet Jayde and have 3 days with her, and I praise God for the progress Kanyon is making. May the Lord be the strength of your heart. (Psalm 73:26)
We love you,
Lana

This is Sonia again - Jodi's friend. My 2 1/2 year old, Maya, was born at 25 1/2 weeks just to refresh your memory. I was so glad to see that you guys slept at home last night! I would advise you guys to try and keep some sort of normalcy in your life as much as you can so that you can keep going on this long journey. Vijay and I went to church as many Sundays and Wednesdays as we could - it was a blessing to us to be surrounded by people who love us and it was the best thing we did because having our church family around us physically got us through some of the tougher times. We had people coming up to us that we didn't even know asking us how Maya was doing and telling us that their whole Bible study group was praying for us - that was an amazing comfort to us! And, Vijay and I made sure we went out on dates for dinner a lot! Before or after visiting Maya in the evening, we made sure we spent some good quality time together - this experience strengthened our marriage but we saw some marriages suffer so be sure to keep yours strong and continue to nurture it - especially since you won't be getting much sleep once Kanyon comes home in a few months! :) We'll continue to pray for all 3 of you.

Jaymie and Kory
We are glad to hear the great news on Kanyon. We continue to pray for his improvement. Jessica prays every night for three things. First she prays that Ms. Phillips and Mr. Kory are happy that Kanyon is doing better and that they are not too sad about Jayde. Second, she prays that Kanyon keeps getting better, and third that Jayde is having fun in heaven with God, but that she remembers to look out for her little brother.
You guys are in our prayers everyday. Not a hour goes by that we are not thinking of you.
