All the Dr's have rounded now so we are back to having a little peace and quiet this morning. They start coming in at 6:30 and don't stop! This morning was particularly rough because they needed blood and his veins are IMPOSSILBE. I should take a picture of his arms to show you what they look like, but the repeating description is "pin coushin". It is HORRIBLE. It took 2 different ladies 2 different tries to get the blood they needed today but they got an IV out of the last one, so that was good. They make it as comfortable as possible with some numbing stuff, but its all scary and uncomfrotable and yucky. BUT its over for now and klp is resting in his comfy bed with The Price is Right on.
Most of his numbers showed good improvement yesterday. Some of them are lower than they've been since we've been here so that indicates we are headed in the right direction. One of the things that happens when you have HUS is that your red blood cells break down. That is still very much happening so we are still having to give him blood to try and keep his red cell count up. As the disease leaves him and his kidneys improve, he should be able to hang on to those cells and keep his counts up. This was a wake up call in the importance of donating blood. WOW. We've needed it and are so thankful we have it.
The plan for today is to do his dialysis sometime this mornig and give him more blood at the same time. They will check his numbers 4 hours later and that will help us know how things are going. Even with his puney, anemic, sick, scared self, he is managing to charm his way through this thing. Most nurses and Dr's leave his room bit by the Kanyon bug!! I think it has something to do with the freckles and eye lashes....and the sweet voice saying, " I wanna go home".
We continue to be taken care of better than we deserve. Again proving we have the BEST BEST BEST friends and family on the planet. I've said it before, but THIS is what the body of Christ is all about. We are humbled to be on the receiving end of it.....and kinda tired of that :) but so thankful for the gift.
I'll update more if there is more news. We can't thank you enough for the prayers.
Here is a pic for the day....Kory went back home late Monday night and we sure do miss him. Luckily they got in lots of snuggle time before Daddy had to go back. klp begs us to rock and now that he is not so sore, we can! klp has always been a professional cuddler! :) He sure does have a good Daddy!

what a sweet Daddy, Kory is-- Kanyon looks so peaceful & content in this picture! Makes me want to curl up and take a nap too :) Praying for the HUS to move on out of here so you guys can get back to Longview, Quinn & some since or normal routine--so grateful that God is healing the Grand Kanyon. :)
PRECIOUS picture. And girl, 4.5 years ago I was DEFINITELY bit by the KanyonBug, and refuse to recover!!! :) :) :) Hope today is as restful as possible... sure do love you guys. Also praying quinn is doing well, that you are doing well without him. That part can be hard too, I know. And you are SO right about the body of Christ... David and I say all the time that we have NO idea how people without Jesus do it!! SO thankful. LOVE YOU.
I agree with Jodi, once you get bitten by the Kanyon bug, you never recover!! Precious picture. Love you!
