We need your prayers

BOTH of the boys have RSV! Kanyon has been feeling bad for a few days and it kept getting worse. We were scheduled for Quinn's 2 month well check today so we took them both in. qsp started getting horse and congested last night so I figured he had it too. We suspected RSV because its kinda going around at our church. So, the Dr. confirmed that they BOTH have it. I'm so upset, frustrated, discouraged, sad, annoyed, and scared. Ever since klp started acting like he had a cold I kept them away from each other and even changed shirts when I held each one, doing my best not to cross-contaminate them. I didn't want Quinn to catch his cold (or so I thought) I think klp is gonna feel better in the next couple of days, but this is always scary for a kid with Chronic Lung Disease. He's had a rough 2-3 days! qsp on the other hand is just getting started and they said that the younger they are the harder it is on them. I am so worried about Quinn. He's just too young to be this sick. He is horse and congested and has a cough. So far no fever and no wheezing (both which we have to immediately go to the Dr. for if they start to happen). We are supposed to start them both on breathing treatments today, so hopefully that will help them both.

This is particularly frustrating because I've tried so hard not to be super germ paranoid this year. This is my first winter since Kanyon was born to be "out and about" and not on house arrest. I've tried really hard to wean myself off of the mindset I was in for 2 years to avoid ALL germs at ALL costs. I really wanted to be balanced about it. Having a baby in the winter made this even harder because while I was feeling like Kanyon could handle sickness, I now had a tiny baby to keep healthy. Well, I'd say I FAILED my first winter out. Its gonna be hard for me not to go into hiding until March once we get through this. I'm going to have to start over in my germ paranoia rehab.

This probably goes without saying, but please keep these boys in your prayers. I'm pretty sure me and Kory both have it right now too (no big deal to grown ups). My mom is here (we'd already planned on her being here for my shower and to keep klp while I took qsp to his appointment) so this has been a LIFE SAVER. So far, she doesn't have it. Pray that these boys can fight this thing and that little Quinn's doesn't get much worse and that pneumonia doesn't happen. I'd like to keep him OUT of the hospital!

We'll keep you posted. THANK YOU for your prayers!

Oh honey... I am SO SORRY! You did NOT fail anybody!! They just got sick, and there was nothing you did or didn't do. I know that doesn't make you feel any better, but you are just NOT allowed to blame yourself in any way!!! Hang in there.... hug yourself from me.... know that you four (five with your sweet Mama!!) are prayed for RIGHT NOW!

PS. Reagan had that at 3 months. A little older than Quinn, but I remember being SO SCARED that she was so darn sick. Breathing treatments and some quarantine... she bounced back pretty quick. Just wanted to give you some hope!

I'm SO sorry your boys are sick. I know how scary it is for me to have my baby sick. I can only imagine what it feels like for you after what y'all went thru with Kanyon. Gibson had the flu & RSV at the same time when he was 5 months old. Super scary (& exhausting)! I'm praying the boys feel better VERY soon!

i'm praying that all will be well for both HOARSE and congested little boys. And RSV can have affects down the road, too, so i'll definitely be praying that no other breathing problems crop up. Germ paranoia is not a bad thing!!

BUM-MER! I am SO sorry to hear this. I will for sure be praying that this passes quickly and they don't get any sicker. You know, all moms can vouch for you that no matter how hard you try sometimes, these things happen. Don't be too hard on yourself! It really isn't fair though since you've tried so hard! Hang in there..

I agree with what others have said. Girl, you did not fail! Have a talk with your dr about the 'contagiousnes' of rsv. Honestly, none of us have a chance when it comes to dodging this. Yall have our prayers. I wanted to focus on one little thing you said at the beginning of your blog, "both the boys"...man, I love the way that reads in your blog. I bet it even sounds real good coming out of your mouth..."both of the boys"..BOTH...you have 2 boys! I'm sorry that they are sick...but, 2 boys! What a miracle! Vicky
